June 2nd: Barcelona, Spain
A brand new UNITECH generation has been selected from UPC! And therefore LUC Spain organized an event to welcome new students for a dinner in a cozy restaurant.
Apart from getting to know each other such events are a great opportunity for the new students to start discovering the UNITECH world, they were showing the emotion and the interest on how this year is going to be, while older alumni were sharing experiences and answering their doubts and questions.

July 1st-3rd: Alp Flix, Switzerland
As he will leave the council at the next Annual Reunion, Samuel insisted to invite the council for the UAA council meeting to his family's hut, located at 2000m above sea level, in a remote and beautiful location in the Swiss Alps. It was a great scenery for his and Emanuela's last council meeting. But it was not only time to say Goodbye. We were very happy that David Ward joined us as the new Secretary General of UTI.

As announced in the last digest, there is increased UNITECH activity in the Rhine-Main area, where you can find an interesting mix of students doing their internships, professionals and corporate partners. Many of them want to participate regularly in UNITECH events, but travelling to Aachen, where most meetings of the local chapter Germany take place, is often not possible. Therefore the idea was raised to establish a new platform of networking.

May 27th-29th: Cinque Terre, Italy
Photos are a great way to preserve your memories, but often it is hard to capture a great moment or view with your camera. 19 UAA members faced this “problem” many times at the UAA Summer Session 2011: The 5 beautiful villages of Cinque Terre, embedded in a spectacular coast, facing the dark blue sea under the bright blue sky. It is hard to capture this onto a chip.

On Tuesday, May 24th, the LUC Switzerland experienced a welcome event in a double sense: Firstly, it was about welcoming the newly selected students from ETH to the UAA and the local chapter. Secondly, Gil Fischer and Silvan Tschopp took the chance to introduce themselves as the new LCCs as they took over this position ad interim in spring 2011.

Ten years after the first UNITECH students graduated, the UAA members are spread all over Europe and even the World. However, the Local UNITECH Chapters are still based in the cities of the Academic Partners. While this is a good way to introduce new members into the association, it makes it impossible for many of us to participate in local events. In Germany, the Rhine-Main region around Frankfurt and Mainz is the home of many Alumni. Most of them work at one of the Corporate Partners in the region, or at different companies and institutions.

The UAA constantly needs motivated people to work in the council or as LCCs. Because most council members were elected in 2009 for a two-year term, nearly every council position is up for vote. To ensure the continuity of the association's work, we decided to start this process well in advance and give all of you the chance to take this opportunity and become part of the council.

With respect to events, we decided on minor changes to the format of the Winter Session, which we will again organize next year. finalized the remaining details of the Summer Session spent most of our time on working out the responsibilities and logistics of the Annual Reunion in Gothenburg.
