Hi, I am Leopold,
I am originally from Munich and moved to Aachen in 2018 to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During my Master's program, I specialized in Energy Engineering. Recently, I completed an internship focused on energy and sustainability with Evonik in Antwerp. Currently, I am working on my Master’s Thesis at the Technical University of Munich.
What did you enjoy most about your experience in the UNITECH programme so far and how has the programme helped prepare you for the next steps in your career?
The best part of UNITECH is definitely meeting the other participants who will join you for your exchange semester. Being around so many open-minded young students gives you the chance to learn with and from them, and make great memories during your exchange.
UNITECH really helped me grow as a person. Sure, university teaches you knowledge, problem-solving, and resilience, but how do you use that in a team? How do you make your message interesting and professional in a meeting or presentation? How do you improve if you don’t reflect on your actions? These are some of the questions UNITECH helped me answer and apply in my daily life.
What are some of the biggest lessons you've learned in your career so far?
You need to be happy doing your work! A big part of that is the people you are surrounded by in your daily work life. I realized the importance of teamwork and how a great team can make all the difference. Working with a supportive and collaborative team not only makes the work more enjoyable but also helps you grow and succeed together.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?
Be open, be interested, and take every chance you have to learn something new. There's so much you can improve on beyond your specialized field. Life is about finding balance between different things. Discover what works best for you!
