Buhler makes sorting high-tech and UNITECH got a front-row seat

“The UNITECH interns Sara Larsen (Programme participant 2015), Alessandra Zampieri (Programme participant 2015) and Matthias Untergassmair (Programme participant 2015) coordinated the organization of the event. The participants had the opportunity to listen to various talks from the Company site coordinators, such as Adam Broad, the Supply Chain Manager; Jerome Poupard, the Process Engineering Manager; David Kinsella, the R&D Director or Timothy Kelf, the Head of Sensor Development.” - Michele Becce: UAA London Regional Group Coordinator.

On November 25th 2016, the UNITECH students and members of the UAA were invited to spend a day in the London site of Bühler Sortex Ltd., in the Eastern part of the city.

The UNITECH interns Sara Larsen (Programme participant 2015), Alessandra Zampieri (Programme participant 2015) and Matthias Untergassmair (Programme participant 2015) coordinated the organization of the event. The participants had the opportunity to listen to various talks from the Company site coordinators, such as Adam Broad, the Supply Chain Manager; Jerome Poupard, the Process Engineering Manager; David Kinsella, the R&D Director or Timothy Kelf, the Head of Sensor Development.

The three UNITECH interns, Sara, Alessandra and Matthias, gave as well a presentation each about their projects, respectively on new product design, on the analysis of manufacturing data and on hyperspectral image processing. Moreover, it was possible to visit the factory and see their best sorting machine while in operation, as well as gaining insights about careers opportunities within the Group, with a special focus on the Büler Management Trainee Program.

The Group’s expertise covers numerous different sectors (just visit www.buhlergroup.com for more insights), spanning from food processing to materials recycling and nanotechnology, and is remarkably well organized notwithstanding these internal diversities. The day then terminated at a pub, where we could have some more informal and networking conversations.

The visit was truly very well structured, and we have been kindly welcomed by people who cared about us as visitors and well as about how they presented their workplace, being proud of it and their achievements.

Once again, proving that our network is fully alive. Sharing experiences and keep growing all together!
